Shadez: Frogman At Fashion Week

MC and regular G-Shock East host Shadez the Misfit turned supermodel for the day when he was asked to strut the catwalk for Katy Eary. Eary, who is said to be designing for Kanye West, sent Shadez, sporting the Frogman, down the catwalk in the latest designs from her A/W 2011/2012 menswear range. West himself attended the show, with rumours that Eary is helping the rap superstar on his forthcoming clothing line.

One To Watch: Nasir Mazhar

This week London Fashion Week has of course been taking place, as well as the well known names, there were also emerging designers that created a lot of fuss amongst the fashion press. Described as the antithesis to Philip Treacy, Nasir Mazhar, the headwear and accessories designer took the fashion crowd on the old Eurostar platform underneath Waterloo Station on a grimy ride through the Caribbean with his SS12 range. To give the show even more flava Mazhar invited female MC's Lioness and Shystie down to perform alongside the show. Check out the pics below, definitely a designer to keep an eye on!

The Wanted: Lightning

The Wanted lads turn up the heat a little in their new video set in the desert. Check out the video below for new single 'Lightning'...

Rihanna Ft. Calvin Harris: 'We Found Love'

Yes, of course we love Rihanna, as does everyone else in the world right now, especially the male variety but have we found love with her new single which sees the Bajan hook up with the Scot that can do no wrong when it comes to dance music???

Vans Get Luxurious With New Woessner Style

Vans are the choice of footwear for many right now, we already know about US rapper Lil B's obsession with the sneaks and it seems to be filtering over to our side of the pond. If you're not into the whole stained up and shabby Shoreditch look then the new Woessner style is for you. Complete with a smart suede finish and in a variety of colours from berry to pastel shades there's definitely enough scope to match perfectly with any of the G-Shock's in your collection.

Don't say we didn't tell you about these first, they'll be flying off the shelves sharpish!

Tune of the Day: Yasmin Ft. Ms. Dynamite - Light Up The World

A fave of ours over at G-Shock, the talented singer/DJ/fashionista Yasmin, has already been filling up the airwaves with her Shy FX produced single 'Light Up The World' but what happens when you get a legend like Ms. Dynamite on it? Musical gold pretty much! Enjoy the remix to the certified banger below...

Toddla T Ft. Skream & Wayne Marshall: Streets So Warm

Our favourite Sheffield skanker Toddla T released his album 'Watch Me Dance' this summer if you haven't got it already, you're seriously missing out on some good homegrown music. The third single from the album following the old skool feel good track 'Take It Back' and title track 'Watch Me Dance' is 'Streets So Warm' the result of what happens when T, Skream and Wayne Marshall meet in a studio. Nice!

BBC drama 'Luther' given a third series

Hackney lad Idris Elba has done more than good for his East London borough, the actor is not only doing his thing stateside but since Elba appeared as detective John Luther in the BBC series last year, viewers can't get enough of him. There were rumours of the popular series 'Luther' being turned into a film a few months ago due to the huge popularity of the programme but speaking to The Sun, Idris cleared it all up with confirmation of a third series hitting the silver screen next year,

“I was blown away by the reaction to series two. People really got on board and getting an Emmy nomination for Luther is the icing on the cake. We’re looking at returning with some equally great storylines and characters — and hopefully an Emmy award.”

Tune of the Day: Delilah 'Go'

Since touring with the likes of Chase and Status and featuring on Wretch 32's 'Black and White', singer/songwriter Delilah has stepped into the spotlight in her own right. We were so taken aback with the new single, 'Go' it takes a minute to even figure out that it's a cover of Chaka Khan's 'Ain't Nobody'. Below is the stunning refix in all it's scaled back glory in the live lounge...

The Awakening Trailer

Dear filmakers. This movie looks absolutely terrifying, Thanks. Starring The Hours and The Wire's Dominic West and Rebecca Hall (Frost/ Nixon), this spooky story set in 1920's England honestly looks very very scary. Nothing like a good British thriller as the nights draw in...!

Tinchy: Off The Record

Not only was it his birthday yesterday (all together now, 'Haaaapppppyyy Biiiii.....'), but little Tinchy Tiny Stryder also blessed our ears with a brand new single, produced by Calvin Harris. Love the 'Calvin's got the girls, he's got all the girls' line! Tinch is currently in Vegas shooting the new video. Looks like a rather large hit in waiting and a great track for Tinch to play at festivals!

Jonathan Mannion: The Eyes Of Hip Hop

To make it in the music industry, you don’t have to be a rapper, singer or producer. Photographer Jonathan Mannion is one of the most important figures in the documentation of hip hop; from Jay-Z album covers to iconic pictures of Biggie Smalls, a new exhibition celebrates his work.

To tie-in with the Tokyo exhibit, Stussy and Lafeyette have teamed up with Jonathan on this cool T, featuring images of Jay-Z, Slick Rick, 50, Rakim and the Notorious BIG.

G-Shock caught up with Jonathan recently, who filled us in on some of his highlights.

Jay-Z:

"I did seven covers for Jay, up to the Black Album - we're still good. There's projects we're speaking about even now. I have one million per cent love for Jay Z. Our careers have run parallel. Our relationship has been career defining for me. We made what these images were, we created what they feel like and it's like DJ Quik said, 'The world sees hip-hop through your eyes'. There's a lot of people contributing but some of the significant, defining moments people can see 'Oh what, DMX in the blood? That was you?' and I want those defining photos.
One of my standout memories is shooting Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt album in 1996. I turned up that day with three pages of notes and I was like 'Look, here's what I wanna do…' He had the whole Versace, speedboats, Biggie video thing going on and I didn't want that. I suggested we had to go Mafia, John Gotti, surveillance, sharp suits, swag… he was like 'I'm with it, let's go.' And so began the creation of 'Reasonable Doubt' - that was shot on the roof of my building, by the West Side Highway."

Biggie To Lance Armstrong:
"I'm grateful to have photos of Biggie, Jam Master J, Left Eye, Aaliyah… I worked with Biggie a handful of times. One time was at the Palladium party when he received his award for Ready To Die going platinum. Jay-Z was in the room, Busta Rhymes was there, Junior Mafia... I somehow weaselled my way onto the stage. I captured one of my most important pictures then because the vibe of that picture really is what that moment felt like. Also, Lance Armstrong is an amazing dude. There's people you just click with. It's like, 'Wow! You're dope! Let's get a beer after this!’ Those are strange moments when you're sitting with like the equivalent of Mohammad Ali of our day. He beat cancer; he's a bad ass. I want to work with people who want to work with me."

Shoot essentials:
"My three essentials for a shoot are: Firstly an amazing assistant. I really need someone that can make everything move fluidly? Second, always have at least one camera loaded and available at any time. Lastly, I try get a good night's sleep too, but that's not always possible… [laughs]. I keep with me a positive attitude - the same dedication, the same attributes I've always thought make a good photographer. I don't take for granted that there's a hundred people right on my heels. People wanna do what I'm doing - they want my throne [laughs]."

The t-'s drop this Saturday. Check Mr. Mannion's site for more.

Rihanna For Armani

Shot by Steven Klein, Rihanna is the new face this season's Armani Underwear and Jeans line.

Nike: The Future Is Now

Remember Marty McFly and his self-lacing trainers in 'Back To The Future:2'? Well, Nike have made the teenage dream a reality with the new Nike Mag.  A total of 1,500 pairs of the new sneaks have been made and put up for auction on eBay with proceeds being donated to the Michael J Fox Foundations for Parkinson's disease research. The shoes are the exact replicas of the ones worn by McFly in the film on a visit to the year 2015. But unlike the fictional pair the Nike trainers don't themselves! Boooooo! It didn't put Tinie Tempah off however; the rapper bid $37,500 to get the first pair. Sold in a plutonium case, personally signed by Michael J Fox, a ceramic model shoe and T-Shirt went to Tinie - though to be honest, at that price we'd rather have a solid GOLD case.

Here's Tinie's DJ, Charlsee's twitpic of his pal's latest purchase...

Rizzle Kicks: When I Was Younger

After hitting the top of the charts last week with Olly Murs, the cheeky rap chaps from Brighton ready their first official single, When I Was Younger.

At 19 years-old, Harley Alexander-Sule and Jordan Stephens, who are nominated for a MOBO next month, claim influences from Roy Ayers, Quincy Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra, Stevie, James Brown and a wealth of ‘60s soul. As well as a nod to the old-skool, the boys also embrace everything from country, ska and hip hop, to straight up pop chord progressions and incredibly, ridiculously catchy choruses. "We’ve slaved to find a definition of our sound because it’s more edgy than pop but it’s not pure hip hop either – it’s somewhere in-between," ponders Harley. "We used to say indie-hop but that sounds really lame!"

Tinie Tempah: Mercury Prize Performance

He might have won at the GQ Awards last night, but Tinie lost out to PJ Harvey at the Mercury Prize a few hours later.

Never mind Tinie! Lets cheer ourselves up with a look at his ace performance from last night. From Frisky to Written In The Stars to Pass Out, Mr. Tempah proved why his debut album was certainly a strong contender for the Mercury.

Pro Green Ft. Emeli Sande: Read All About It

The new single from Green's forthcoming second album. Absolutely love this emotive, uplifting, moving track - can't wait to see the video.

Rihanna and Eminem, who!?!?

Rednek: I'm Not Skrillex

Just in case anyone is still confused - Rednek ISN'T Skrillex! Ok!
Born to a Polish mother and Irish father and babysat by a Jamaican producer, singer and DJ, Rob D’Riche is no newcomer to mixing it up and hard work, (hence the name, allow the modern stereotype). After soaking up the sounds filtered through the Hackney estate where he was raised, it wasn’t long until he began taking music seriously via a redundant music room at school, “I locked myself in and built up this studio at around 12 years-old,” the Pioneer fanatic tells us adding “my studio is fully kitted out now, it’s plush”. Speed through the years past a stint in pop music working for Pete Waterman on <Pop Idol>, then alongside Tinie on <Hood Economics> and we arrive at Radio 1 daytime airings of dubstep stonker <I’m Not Skrillex> (released 29 August) plus plans to tour the US. Simply press play and prepare to wobble like never before!

Trailer: Warrior

Rising movie star Tom Hardy teams up with Nick Nolte and relative newcomer Joel Edgerton in director Gavin O'Connor's ('Tumbleweed', 'Miracle') new film, 'Warrior'.

Ex-Marine Tommy Riordan (Tom Hardy), returns to inhis hometown of Pittsburgh, where enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovering alcoholic, to help him train for an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) tournament, which will pit him against his estranged brother (Edgerton) .As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father. But when Brendan's unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.

Following in the footsteps of Mickey Rourke's 'The Wrestler', Hilary Swank in 'Million Dollar Baby' and last year's excellent 'The Fighter', starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, many are tipping 'Warrior' for Oscar success next year.
