If you, like us right now, are in the New York area, then head down to this exhibition by the amazing Ricky Powell.
As a photographer and author and a specialist of the 'environmental portrait', Powell's pictures ahve appeared everywhere from the New York Times to Vibe. He rose to fame initially via his Beastie Boys portraits, but had already been snapping for years by then, after hanging out with the likes of Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
This exhibition covers New York 1985 to Bushwick 2013 and the changes that the city has seen over those years. Powell's fly on the wall access creates an incredible intimacy with his subjects, whether with the downtown art scene of the 80s or today in Bushwick.
