Hippo Takes On The Thames

New art installation floats into London...

Earlier this year, artist Florentjin Hofman built a 54ft rubber duck and set it off sailing down in the Nanming river in China.

Well, the artist is back, this time in London and with a giant hippo. Created using wood panels, the 21 meter long Hippo is designed to inspire Londoners, breaking up the monotony of everyday life and giving us all a lovely big smile.

The Hippo floated down the Thames earlier this week and can now be found at Nine Elms, on the South Bank, until 28 September.

Check the short film, below, with the artist who talks about why he chose the Thames as the site for his new work.
